Carpet tiles and peel-and-stick vinyl are easier still, and generally look it. The difficulty is rarely the plank itself. It is everything around it: door jambs, stair nosings, floor vents, cabinet toe-kicks, transitions to other materials, and getting the subfloor flat enough that a floating floor does not flex. That preparation is what separates a floor that lasts from one that does not.
