What acclimation will not fix

It is worth being clear about the limits. Acclimating material correctly gets the floor installed at the right starting point. It does not stop seasonal movement afterwards, and no wood floor in Alberta is exempt from that. Fine gaps that open through winter and close again by late summer are the floor behaving normally.

What separates a floor that ages well from one that annoys its owner is usually the combination of realistic board width, correct installation moisture content, and some control over indoor humidity through the heating season.
