Details That Make a Flooring Quote Useful

Start with the property location and the rooms involved. Measure every room separately and include closets, halls, landings and stairs. A single total square footage can hide small-space labour, extra seams, material direction and transition points. Note whether the property is occupied and which rooms must remain accessible.

Describe the existing surface as accurately as possible. Carpet, floating plank, glued vinyl, hardwood, tile and coated concrete have different removal and preparation implications. If the substrate is known, include that information. Mention soft spots, squeaks, cracks, loose tiles, water history or visible uneven areas without trying to diagnose the cause.

If a material has been selected, provide the manufacturer and collection. Otherwise, explain the priority: natural wood, resilient upkeep, a rigid tiled surface, softness, refinishing, or a coated concrete floor. The service overview can help name the category before the form is completed.

Mention related work that can change access or sequence, such as cabinet installation, painting, baseboard replacement or appliance moves. Flooring dates should be coordinated with those tasks after the material and preparation requirements are known.

The first review should separate confirmed facts from items that need measurement or inspection. Room dimensions, photos and product information can establish a starting scope. Subfloor flatness, moisture, bond conditions and hidden damage often require a closer look before final preparation can be priced.
