Our Calgary planning range for vinyl and LVP installation is 4 to 9 dollars per square foot; tile installation runs 8 to 25 dollars per square foot in Canadian dollars. Tile costs more because the assembly beneath it costs more, including substrate preparation, uncoupling or waterproofing membranes, setting materials and grout, and because the labour is slower and more skilled. Tile earns that premium in showers, bathrooms and entries. In a bedroom or basement it usually does not.
